And.... it's done!

Granny got the binding that she needed, and the binding was put on- hand stitched and everything. Yet another part of this project I was quite happy to not be a part of.

And so, the quilt is now hanging up at Quilting From the Heart.

It is all very exciting. So what happens next? We are going to put the quilt in some shows, show it off to as many people as possible, and then send it back to Making Memories in the fall.

Don't worry, I'll keep you posted.

Mom Quilts

The next step after we got the top pieced: Mom put the quilt on her long arm, and away she went.

First step: putting the quilt on the long arm! Gee, wish I could have been there for that... or not.

And so the quilting begins!

Needless to say, mom had a pretty busy couple days. But in the end it was all worth it!

Just about done....

And done! The quilt looks so good! Mom did an awesome job quilting it, as she has some super mad skills. I was impressed. You should be to. Some closer looks...

The quilt right now is at Granny's getting binding put on it, and then some bling and razzle dazzle that we still have from the wedding dresses will be added to it. So stay tuned for more!

Later days.

Quilting Day at Mom's

After the retreat we got together in Mom and Dad's new and wonderful quilting room. Or "Studio" as mom insists on calling it. The first step was getting everything up on the design wall.

Ok, well, that was the first stop after Mom and I finished our last block. Granny was not impressed that we hadn't finished our homework. But soon as I was done I got to work putting things up on the design wall.

Even Papa was impressed at our mad skills, looking over our blocks.

Granny got the job of sewing the blocks together while Mom and I started working on the borders.

After joking that Dad and Rocky should bring us down some snacks later... they did.

Which was delightful. Though I don't think that they needed to bring down every single piece of Christmas baking Mom had left. So, after a snack break... or two... we finally got to lay out our quilt. The only place big enough was the living room floor.

Up next... Mom starts quilting our quilt! Stay tuned!
